At night, my T6C's electric tachometer seems to read low.
The electric tachometer is sensitive to low voltage.Your lights are probably dim as well. Adjusting your regulator for 7.3 volts should cure the problem. (See voltage regulator adjustment sheet).
My instrument lights are very dim with the control on full.
The choice of the 0.6 watt bulb is the problem. Change to the 1.2 watt and the light will double. The bulb # is NARVA 17023.
I am converting to 12 volts. What should I do with the starter?
The actual starter motor can handle the 12 volts but the 6 volt solenoid should be changed to a 12 volt model. Most auto-electric shops will have the 12 volt solenoid either new or rebuilt. Niehoff has one, WA656, at most auto-parts store. Expect to pay about $50. If you continue to use the 6 volt solenoid, it will damage the ring gear on the flywheel. Also the Ignition/starter switch will suffer with the twice high current to the solenoid.
My brake and turn light on the right side doesn't work. All of the other lights and signal lights work fine. The bulb has been replaced, still no light. I have checked for voltage and it reads 6 volts. What wrong?
This is an interesting trouble indeed. It first happened to me over 20 years ago. The solder end on the lamp fixture has worn as well as the bulb. Or, connection is not being made. The quick simple fix is to solder a small drop on the end of the bulb. It now is a bit longer and will contact the spring end. This is just enough to make contact. If you really think you are good, solder on the fixture's spring end.
